Through the support of donors to The Ohio Masonic Communities Foundation, Western Reserve Masonic Community (WRMC) has expanded not only their physical campus, but also improved the quality of life for current and future residents of the community.
The expansion project at WRMC, which was completed in early 2024, includes three elements – a community center, healthcare center, and independent living apartments.
The community center is a beautiful new space that allows staff, residents, families, and community members to gather together. Some of the favorite events in the community center include church services, music performances, luncheons, campus meetings such as town halls and resident councils, and community fundraisers like purse bingo.
The healthcare center features 50 private suites offering short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care. It’s a comfort to current and future residents that quality skilled nursing will be available to them should their health and needs change. The new healthcare center is fully equipped with the luxuries residents desire and the technology that improves the ability of our staff to care for each person to the best of their ability. Some of the technology highlights include
The final element of the expansion is 56 luxury independent living apartments. The apartments are beautiful, but the cornerstone of the addition is the amenities. The new apartment building features an underground parking garage, a 20,000-square-foot common area, state-of-the-art fitness center with a personal trainer, café, bar, and restaurant-style dining room. It’s connection to the original campus building offers easy access to staff and other on campus amenities such as the beauty parlor, movie theater, additional restaurant-style dining room, and woodshop.
It’s the small details and focus on helping community members live their best lives that make The Ohio Masonic Communities different – things that insurance doesn’t reimburse and capital support does not include. This is what donors make possible.
“The best part about living here? I’m enjoying retired life and can relax in my room and read or come out and spend a day reminiscing with new friends. What’s not perfect? I don’t go to the gym very often because I get my workout in walking to and from the dining room. It’s a long walk! But I suppose you’re fixing that with the new addition. Thanks for making my life a lot more convenient. Now, can you help me come up with a new excuse to skip going to the gym?”
